Knee strengthening exercises for seniors and the elderly are important for maintaining balance and avoiding falls. The knee extension exercise above is the easiest of the knee rehab exercises to perform.

The ability to stand easily and fully extend your knee is vital in maintaining your functional independence. Make sure you fully extend and flex your knee while performing this exercise to gain the most benefit.

Post-Operative Knee Conditions Need Strength Training For Rehabilitation

Reduced knee extension strength is commonly reported after total knee replacement, suggesting that strength training of the Quadriceps muscle is needed. Similar issues are also observed in over-use knee conditions, for example, the Patello-Femoral pain syndrome.

Accordingly, Knee Joint replacement and Knee Joint pain is often associated with muscular Atrophy, and central activation failure resulting in reduced functional performance, potential for future injury .

The availability of strength training equipment is often a limiting factor during rehabilitation and training interventions. A growing interest in developing simple and effective training methods convenient for exercising at the workplace, in the hospital, at home or at the training field has been emerging for quite some time.
